Today’s most innovative architects have set out to respond to one of society’s greatest challenges: designing a world today that can adapt to a radically different tomorrow.We’ve identified 10 emerging projects that are likely to transform the face of Ghana in the near future.

Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Museum

Lebanese-Ghanaian firm KEY Architecture Group are hoping to revive the Ghanaian village of Mampong while celebrating its past and aiding its economic upliftment. Architects and founders Hussein and Imad Fakhry have conceptualised the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Museum, planned to be built on the very farm where the first cocoa seeds were planted on the Gold Coast in Ghana.

Government will soon begin the construction of a befitting cocoa museum in honour of the late Tetteh Quarshie, the man who brought cocoa to Ghana.The US$3m Cocoa museum is in line with the vision of the government to promote local consumption of cocoa.

The Signature

Accra’s landscape will witness a truly world-class development when the top-of-range design of The Signature towers into the skyline in the coming months.The Signature, which is developed by CapeMay Properties, blends modern architectural and engineering concepts with a unique African design in a way that makes it both striking and inspiring.

Marine Drive Project

The project, which is estimated to cost about $1.2 billion, is a Public-Private Partnership project expected to transform the beachfront stretch from the Osu Christiansborg Castle to the Arts Centre into a vibrant business and commercial enclave that will transform the coastal city’s skyline.The project which covers an area of over 240 acres is set to begin in june 2019.

Ghana National Cathedral

The Ghana National Cathedral is envisioned as a “physical embodiment of unity, harmony and spirituality” .The Cathedral will be located on a 14-acre site adjacent to Osu Cemetery near Independence Square and the Accra Sports Stadium. Construction is set to commence in 2019.

Cape Coast Slavery Museum

Situated near the Cape Coast Castle – formerly used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade – the new Cape Coast Slavery Museum is a careful response to this historic building and an engaging forum within which to understand and learn about Ghanaian history.The museum programme will address this heritage, while also exploring the influence of Ghanaian culture on the diaspora. Petronia City Project

The city’s 2000-acre development will include residential, office, industrial, commercial, leisure and hospitality space. It will be the first at the heart of the Western Region of Ghana – home to the country’s rapidly growing oil, gas and mining industries. This incredible project began in October 2013 and will be realised in three key phases over the next 10 years.The Petronia City project will unroll in 3 phases over the next 10 years. It kicked off in October 2013 with full acquisition of construction machinery and equipment. It was then followed by clearing of about 200 acres of the site as well as the access roads and service areas.

Appolonia City

Appolonia City is a 2,325-acre (941-hectare) mixed-use and mixed-income urban development just 20km from the centre of Accra. The project includes a variety of social infrastructure underpinned by world-class construction and estate management services.

Residential sales with a range of financing options are available by purchasing a plot to build your own house in Nova Ridge or an existing home at The Oxford development. Appolonia Business Park offers 70 acres (30 hectares) of modern commercial areas. The park is designed to accommodate a range of uses including manufacturing, processing, storage, logistics and service companies.

The Exchange

A visionary development conceived by highly-acclaimed real estate experts with the aim of uplifting Accra’s residential scene while achieving international leisure and business standards. The Exchange has proudly become the first project in Africa to receive the EDGE certification. EDGE revolves around honoring projects of high environmental awareness that embody consciousness when compared to conventional developments. The City Corner Project

The, project, known as the “City Corner”, involves the redevelopment of existing plots of AMA’s land in West Ridge, a prime area in the city of Accra, into modern mixed use development.

The New Kejetia Market

London Market

The proposed 2-storey multipurpose market (comprising the Ground, First Floors and Roof) is a novelty in the James Town area of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. The two historic market halls which are used currently as butchers shop and grain market will be redesigned. The second historic building should be assigned usage as a warehouse
